Mission Statement: To be faithful to the gospel of Jesus Christ by pursuing social and ecological justice and peace in Australia and the world.

Mandate
- Pursue the most effective strategies for the realisation of the mission.
- Identify critical issues of national and international significance and develop a considered position on these.
- Participate in public debate.
- Advocate on national policy issues.
- Educate, inform and resource the church, to engage in actions for social and ecological justice and peace.
- Act on issues of injustice within the Church.
- Advise Assembly, ASC, the President and the General Secretary.

Reference Committee
Role
- Assist in working to fulfil the mandate of the Agency by providing support and advice on such matters as strategic planning, priority setting and the development of policy positions.
- Receive and consider matters referred by the National Director.
- Provide advice to the National Director and Agency staff.
- Together with the National Director, assist and provide advice to the President and the General Secretary on urgent political and social issues within the Agency's mandate.
- Assist in the oversight of UnitingJustice task groups, research projects, and working groups.
- Assist in the building of a UnitingJustice Network.
Membership
- Chairperson, appointed by the Assembly;
- National Director;
- Synod staff representative;
- Three (3) members, appointed by the Assembly Standing Committee.
