Dialogues

Through bilateral dialogues we have a close relationship with nine other denominations in Australia. Ultimately, the purpose of the dialogue is to work towards unity, as this is the nature of the Uniting Church. The dialogue groups take place throughout Australia, in Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney and Horsham. They are not just talk fests. The new agreement on Inter-Church Marriage shows how much can be achieved. Topics include baptism, ministry, covenanting, Scripture, salvation and social justice.

Along the way, these dialogues seek to promote greater understanding, develop areas of theological agreement, and find ways of mutual sharing in mission as a way of fulfilling Jesus' prayer, "that they may be one, that the world may believe". (John 17:21)
