National Finance Committee

Looking for National Corporate Agreements?

The National Finance Committee (NFC) is responsible for the financial management and oversight of all funds of the Assembly. This includes maximising its resources, and determining policies and practices which ensure that funds are used responsibly to finance the work and mission to which it is called.

The committee comprises one representative nominated by each synod and six elected by the Assembly, with provision for the NFC to appoint up to two co-opted persons. The General Secretary and Administration Services Manager are ex-officio members.

Activities

The committee:

  • submits yearly budgets for Assembly funds and agency operations for approval by the Assembly Standing Committee, including the proportion of the budget to be contributed by each synod
  • monitors financial performance by the agencies, initiating appropriate action as required
  • receives and considers all year end accounts and is responsible to arrange audit processes
  • represents the Church nationally on finance, property and associated matters
  • arranges national purchase contracts for goods and services where this is warranted
  • provides a forum and acts as an advisor to synods and coordinates measures to ensure 'best practice' within the Church. This includes close liaison and united action through conferences and sub-groupings on such matters as investments, legal responsibilities, insurances and information technology.
