Beneficiary Fund

Website: http://beneficiaryfund.uca.org.au/

Purpose

The Uniting Church's Beneficiary Fund is the superannuation fund for ministers of the word, deacons and deaconesses. Employer and member contributions are managed by a corporate trustee with twelve people on the Board of Directors.

Activities

Directors are chosen on the basis of the skills they bring to the Fund. Management is pro-active and operates within the parameters set by government legislation and the Trust Deed. Eight staff carry out a remarkably wide range of activities and responsibilities including:

  • Receipt of contributions;
  • Compiling member details;
  • Self insurance;
  • Payment of pensions.

Education and public relations activities include:

Conducting seminars on resourcing ministry and preparing for retirement;
Development of a new benefit design featuring simplicity, removal of discrimination, and meeting present and future Superannuation Guarantee Charge requirements. Members may transfer part or the whole of their pension benefit into a lump sum at retirement or subsequently.

The National Home Acquisition Fund is located at the Beneficiary Fund offices.

Resources

  1. Member booklet provided for new members on joining, and for other members when a major change occurs.
