Guidelines
for a Combined
Service of Ordination and
Induction
When an Ordination and Induction are occurring in the same service,
the
major service is that of Ordination.
Only
the components of the Induction Service which were not covered in the Ordination
Service should be included.
Sections
to follow:
Ordination
Service 1-17 for either the deacon or the minister of the Word but excluding the
Presbytery's welcome at the end of section 17.
Induction
Service 13 which would begin
a)
for a deacon
N,
my brother/sister in Christ,
you
have been ordained as a deacon.
Now
you are called to be a servant and shepherd in .............
Do
you accept the oversight of the Presbytery of..........?
I
do.
Will
you take part in the work of this presbytery
and
the other councils of the Uniting Church,
and
will you share in the life and witness of the wider church?
I
will.
b)
for a minister of the Word
N,
my brother/sister in Christ,
you
have been ordained as a minister of the Word.
Now,
you are called to be a servant and shepherd in the parish of ............
Do
you accept the oversight of the Presbytery of .. ..... ?

do.
Will you take part in the work of this presbytery
and the other councils of the Uniting Church,
and will you share in the life and witness of the wider church?
I will.
The
section proceeds with the presentation of the symbols of ministry to the end of
section 13.
