About the Doctrine Working Group

Following Managerial Changes in 1998, The Doctrine Working Group became one of the four working groups of Theology and Discipleship. Prior to this time it was known as the Commission on Doctrine.

The Commission on Doctrine was established at the first Assembly in 1977 to help the church formulate its faith and order its life. It is not actually the task of the Doctrine Working Group to provide rulings about particular matters of doctrine and belief. That remains the responsibility of the Assembly.

For more information about what the Doctrine Working Group is currently doing, have a look at the Issues section of this site.

Over the years, Doctrine has produced a number of resources. If you would like more information contact us.

The Doctrine Working Group is part of the Theology and Discipleship agency of the Uniting Church in Australia National Assembly
