Not all Christians think alike on human rights Print

The Uniting Church in Australia has written to all federal ALP MPs and Senators, urging them to implement the recommendations made in the report of the National Human Rights Consultation.

In its submission to the Consultation, the Uniting Church articulated its commitment to social justice and the achievement of human dignity for all through a Human Rights Act.

Commentary on Basis of Union now available Print

The Commentary on the Basis of Union, by J Davis McCaughey is available again. This very important book has been out of print for some time, but is now available through MediaCom.

Davis McCaughey was one of the key architects of the Basis of Union and a key figure in the drafting process. Few people were better placed to reflect upon it as the Uniting Church came into existence. Apology a positive step forward says UCA Print

The Uniting Church in Australia has today welcomed the Federal Government’s formal apology to the Forgotten Australians.

President of the Uniting Church, Rev. Alistair Macrae, said that the church had also acknowledged and apologised for its role in any harmful institutional care practices.

Recognising the Uniting Church's commitment to peacemaking , the Assembly is supporting the 2009 PROPHET SCHOOL, which addresses the questions “What does it mean to follow Jesus of Nazareth in the 21st Century?” and “Is it possible to create a new world built on contemplative nonviolence?”
